Las mujeres hoy en día no nos reducimos a una sola etiqueta, pues somos multifacéticas y multidimensionales, y eso incluye a todas las que somos mamás 

Somos mamás, pero también esposas, amigas, profesionistas, emprendedoras, alumnas, maestras, amantes, hijas y hermanas; nuestros días no se componen sólo de ver por nuestros hijos, porque, aunque ellos sean el motor de nuestras vidas, entendemos que para que ellos estén bien, nosotras también tenemos que estarlo.

Cuando me convertí en mamá de Stella tenía pavor de perderme a mí misma. Entre dar pecho, pañales y no dormir es fácil sentir que tú ya no existes. Cuando pensé que así sería por el resto de mis días, me detuve a pensar que los paradigmas de otros no me definen. ¡Fui rebelde antes de ser mamá, ahora tendría que ser una Mamá Rebelde!

Empecé a escucharme y a serme fiel para poder ser mejor ejemplo para Stella, y mejor mujer en todos los demás sentidos, los cuales yo activamente elijo que me definan.

Lo que pasa es que, aunque ser mamá es sin duda mi rol más gratificante (y el más retador), mi cerebro a veces pide a gritos poder tener conversaciones con adultos y otras actividades que no involucren colores primarios ni hablar sobre crianza ni temas relacionados.

Y son precisamente esos momentos los que me enriquecen y me ayudan a sentirme completa, a sentirme más preparada para ser mamá y para dar lo mejor de mí para mi bebé y el mundo.

Así que si eres mamá, give yourself a break. Es válido querer espacio para hacer otras cosas, así como es igual de válido estarlas haciendo y no dejar de extrañar estar con tu hijo. Cultiva tus distintas matices y hazlo de manera que se enriquezcan unas a otras. Tu hijo te lo va a agradecer.
